HVAC insulation: information to include in a brief

Identify the equipment and service involved before comparing HVAC insulation. Give the mechanical contractor the operating conditions and location so product selection can be coordinated with the service design and access requirements.

• Duct, pipe or equipment application.
• Operating and environmental conditions.
• Access, joints and maintenance requirements.

Build a material list that can be checked

Record the selected product name or SKU, each required size and the quantity for each work area. Use the actual listed coverage when estimating packs or boards, and confirm the allowance with your installer. Include compatible accessories and keep a copy of the agreed selections.
