Polyurethane and acrylic sealants: selection questions

Start with the joint and the surfaces it connects, then compare sealant datasheets. Ask the manufacturer to confirm compatibility, movement requirements and the proposed finish before treating two cartridges as interchangeable.

Define the selection

Ask for the current technical and safety datasheets for the exact product. Describe the joint and adjoining materials clearly so the manufacturer or responsible installer can confirm the proposed use and preparation.

Check before comparing products

• Substrates and joint movement.
• Paintability and surface preparation.
• Cure conditions and service exposure.

Build a material list that can be checked

Record the selected product name or SKU, each required size and the quantity for each work area. Use the actual listed coverage when estimating packs or boards, and confirm the allowance with your installer. Include compatible accessories and keep a copy of the agreed selections.
