BAL assessments and external wall selection

Start with the project's documented bushfire assessment, rather than choosing cladding from its appearance. Ask the designer to identify the complete wall arrangement and the junction details that apply to your site.

Define the selection

Work from the selected system and elevation drawings. Record the nominated material and the compatible support, fixing and accessory requirements, then ask the designer or manufacturer to resolve any detail that differs from the published arrangement.

Check before comparing products

• Assessed BAL and site documentation.
• Product and wall-system evidence.
• Corners, openings and adjoining materials.

Build a material list that can be checked

Record the selected product name or SKU, each required size and the quantity for each work area. Use the actual listed coverage when estimating packs or boards, and confirm the allowance with your installer. Include compatible accessories and keep a copy of the agreed selections.
